How to get feedback

Throughout this application process, you'll go through several drafts of your essays and short answer questions. Here are some tips on how and when to get feedback:

  • Ask people who know you in different capacities (mentors, friend, recommenders, etc.). This will help ensure your application provides a complete picture of you as a person.
  • Be strategic. While it might seem like a good idea to get as much feedback as possible, too many opinions can be overwhelming and contradictory. Asking about specific aspects of your application – like whether your proposal sounds feasible – can be more effective than simply asking for a general opinion.
  • Sometimes advice will be conflicting, and some may not ring true to you. It is ultimately up to you to decide what advice to accept and to ensure that your narrative is authentic.
  • Ask someone close to you to read your essays to see if they sound like you – and not like how you imagine a Fulbrighter should sound.
  • Be sure to allow enough time to incorporate feedback you accept into your application.

Asking for feedback from the Office of Scholar Development & Fellowship Advising

We are here to help! You can send us drafts of your essays and/or short answer questions throughout the summer. You can ask for feedback by:

  • Submitting drafts through this Canvas course's modules/assignments. Allow 3-5 business days for us to read the drafts and send you feedback.
  • Scheduling a Feedback Meeting with a Fellowships Advisor and requesting feedback through the Qualtrics form below.

Feedback Deadline - August 18, 2025

Ask for feedback on your entire application by August 18, 2025 from the Office of Scholar Development & Fellowship Advising. We will give you feedback in time to complete your application for the campus deadline of September 2, 2025.

To meet the feedback deadline (August 18, 2025), fill out your Fulbright application in the Fulbright application portalLinks to an external site. and use the Qualtrics form below to request feedback. We will carefully review your entire Fulbright application and share feedback with you in time for you to make changes ahead of the campus deadline on September 2, 2025.
